The All-Aboard Centre offers opportunities in rowing, powerboating, canoeing, paddlesports. Lottery funding is being used to encourage older people and families from disadvantaged communities to try a new sport. It enables the centre to offer weekly ‘come and try’ sessions are offered at little or no cost. The programme is aimed at getting more people to try out an activity they might not have thought about doing before, learn new skills and meet new people. It is part of the Sport England’s Community Sport Activation Fund, which allows local authorities, charities and other organisations to apply for funding for innovative projects that will get more people playing sport.
