The project will be specifically targeted to bring young and disadvantaged people to the Cathedral and enjoy the activities of music concerts, plays, dance, lectures and to inform the community about the heritage of the cathedral.

    Rossett Nature Reserve Group, located in Harrogate, was established in June 1996. The project aim is to hold an open day with various activities for children and adults. A story telling area will be created, which will benefit local school children. Members of the community will be trained in newt handling, which means children will be able to pond dip and study the newts. There will also be guided tours for the community around the Breathing Place.

They will use funding to begin a tandem riding club for disabled people in the Wetherby area following the success of the Harrogate service. The project is part of a wider plan to extend a full range of Open Country activities into West Yorkshire. Tandem riding will give disabled people an opportunity to a quality leisure time activity which provides excellent health and social benefits.
