The Greater East Belfast Partnership’s Connswater Community Greenway secured a £23.5million grant to create a linear parkway following the course of the Connswater and other rivers through east Belfast.
The Connswater River is currently dirty and neglected. As part of the project the rivers will be cleaned and brought back to life. The Greenway will create vibrant, attractive, safe and accessible parkland for leisure, recreation and community events and activities.
Greater East Belfast Partnership will use the grant to connect 379 acres of public open space, build 43 bridges and create 19kms of cycle and walkways.
A whole new greener environment will emerge to link local residents to parks, leisure facilities, businesses, shopping centre, schools and colleges.
The Connswater Community Greenway will be a living landmark for east Belfast and a fantastic legacy.
