About the project

The Enderby Brass Band Organisation was formed back in 1895, and over the years has evolved to become one of the largest and most respected music groups in the UK. Now, thanks to The National Lottery funding, and the purchase of a range of new musical instruments, they have been able to open their doors to even more of the East Midlands’ community. New faces come through the doors each week and the organisation are hoping that the project will create a new generation of young band members who will also benefit from improved confidence, social skills and musicality as a result of learning to play. The Band’s General Secretary said: “The new instruments have enabled the band to open its doors to more young people and branch into schools, giving the younger generation something fun and productive to do with their spare time. Being in the band has given them opportunities that they wouldn't otherwise get, including expanding their social networks that improves their social skills and builds their confidence.
