Previously a worn out and unloved memorial garden in the centre of the community, the Mytholmroyd Memorial Garden is now a safe green space in the heart of the village. It is no longer a focal point for anti-social behaviour; young people now respect the space having been included in its design and construction. The updated facilities offer a modern meeting space with improved disabled access.
The semi circular paths not only improve access; they create an amphitheatre from which events can be enjoyed. The project involved replacing the steps, paths, trees, and benches, as well as installing new handrails and ambient lighting. As well as the groundworks, the community was encouraged to come together with the aim of reconciling the older and younger generations.
