By sharing personal experiences of recovery in a way that inspires hope, a huge difference can be made to the lives of people with mental health issues. Transcend provides free training to people and organisations across Swansea, challenging negative perceptions of mental health and encouraging the community to be at the heart of an individual’s recovery.
After leaving hospital last year, 25-year old Jordana looked for opportunities to share her experience of mental health issues with others. Since joining Transcend, she has achieved a range of OCN qualifications and the Mental Health First Aid certificate. Jordana is now a peer mentor supporting another mental health service user to work towards recovery.
Jordana says: “Transcend has provided me with many new skills which have helped me work with my first mentee, giving me confidence and an understanding of the issues facing those who we aim to help.”
