About the project

Staffordshire Football Female Coaching Project supports local women in becoming professional football coaches. Thanks to The National Lottery, the successful mentoring programme was extended to a second year, which has helped more female football coaches to gain a their award from the Football Association, and go on to coach in their communities. Following the popular first programme, the West Midland Football Association were keen to offer this brilliant opportunity to more women. With the help of The National Lottery, around 20 female coaches were put through their paces in preparation for the Level Two course. Each coach worked with a mentor for around six months prior to the FA course. The trainees attended workshops and meetings that helped build their confidence ready for the qualification. As a result many women have built up their skills and self-assurance, helping them to be positive role models in their local clubs.
