Get Active Birmingham
With Birmingham set to host the iconic Commonwealth Games, we want to kick-start the sports journey and get locals moving with our #GetActiveBrum challenge. How will you get active?
Following the news that nearly one-third of Brummies exercise for less than 30 minutes a week*, sports presenter and ex Commonwealth Games athlete, Gabby Logan, launched the #GetActiveBrum campaign with a sports day at the National Lottery funded Birmingham University’s Sports and Fitness Centre.
Around 100 local people who came along to the event were able to try their hand at four Commonwealth Games sports: Netball, Badminton, Wheelchair Basketball and Basketball, with Gabby encouraging along the sessions.
Team England athletes, including basketball player, Siobhan Prior, and badminton players, Chris Langridge and Chloe Birch, took part in the sessions, offering expert tips and advice to locals taking part.
