This project received National Lottery funding from the Big Lottery Fund’s Reaching Communities programme in England. Grants are available from £10,000 upwards and funding can last for up to five years. This programme works in two ways: it provides funding for projects who work with communities and people most in need including help with day to day running costs, such as staff salaries and covering the cost of any specific equipment. The second strand helps to pay for building projects costing more than £100,000, such as the refurbishment, extension or construction of community centres or village halls.
The Big Lottery Fund was set up to distribute National Lottery money to projects working in local health, education, environment and charitable purposes. Funding is delivered mostly through programmes tailored specifically to the needs of communities in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland as well as some programmes that cover the whole of the UK.
