Half term hangouts

Half term is here! And whilst the weather might not quite be playing ball, there are plenty of indoor venues to visit, so take a look at our top five National Lottery funded places to have fun this week!
The Watts Museum (Guildford)
Fancy injecting some culture into your half term plans? Head on down to Guilford’s renowned Victorian art gallery and enjoy a variety of activities created specially to cater for the school break. Hear the stories of some of the gallery’s famed characters, use smart phones and iPads creatively to draw portraits in a digital masterclass or step into the pop-up portrait studio to experiment with drawing using mirrors and Perspex. The Imaginarium (Northern Ireland)
If Newry, Northern Ireland is a stop in your half term plans this week, the Imaginairum is certainly worth a trip for the littler members of your family. They will be introduced to Storyland, a kid-scale fantasy world illuminated by coloured lights, as well as The Imagination Lab where brightly coloured sea creatures or anything else that takes a child’s fancy, can be conjured up from recycled plastic bottles, pipe cleaners and copious amounts of glue. V&A (Dundee)
If Scotland is on your family’s radar this half term, be sure to head to V&A Dundee for some intergenerational fun. There’re options aplenty, from the ongoing fashion exhibitions to various talks throughout the week as well as a brand new tea and tour offering starting on Friday. Wembley Stadium (London)
Setting foot on the pitch graced regularly by the Three Lions should be on the bucket list for any football fanatic, and Wembley stadium offer just this. This half term you can take a reasonably priced tour round the stadium which will be playing host to some of the world’s greatest in the Euro 2020 final this summer. Get yours booked here.
St Fagan’s National Museum of History (Wales)
Situated in Wales, St Fagan’s is one of Europe’s leading open-air museums. The museum, which celebrated its 70th birthday last year with a major National Lottery funded makeover, showcases how the people of Wales have lived throughout history. As a visitor it feels as if you are stepping through time, from the world of a 230,000-year-old Neanderthal child to present day.
