Emily Campbell

After making history at Tokyo 2020 by becoming the first British woman in history to medal in weightlifting at the Olympics with silver in the +87kg event, Emily Campbell was gunning for gold in Birmingham 2022.

Emily Campbell

A Leeds Beckett graduate with a degree in Sports Science, the 28-year-old has achieved success across the board, with a bronze medal in the World Championships in Tashkent in 2021 as well as winning the European Championships in Moscow in the same year.

At her second Commonwealth Games, Emily finally achieved her gold medal by setting a personal best, with a Games record total of 286kg that was 3kg higher than her Tokyo total, and eclipsed the best mark set by an athlete from the Commonwealth on other stages.

The first British female weightlifter to win an Olympic medal, Campbell has won medals at all four majors within a year - Tokyo silver, world bronze, European gold and now a Commonwealth title. She was also a co-flag bearer for Team England for the opening ceremony at Birmingham 2022.
