Big Names Celebrate The National Lottery Stars Of 2014

Jade Jagger, Chris Packham, Call the Midwife star Laura Main, Masterchef’s John Torrode and many more join the line up to pay tribute to the winners of this year’s National Lottery Awards, which recognise the inspirational work of Lottery-funded projects across all sections of society. Hosted by John Barrowman, the National Lottery Stars will be shown on BBC One Friday 19 September at 10.35pm

From over 700 entries, 49 were selected as finalists in seven categories reflecting the different areas the National Lottery funds. The seven projects who won a public vote will be revealed on the night with the help of celebrity guest presenters.

The categories and celebrity presenters are:
Best Arts Project; jewellery designer Jade Jagger
Best Education Project; Springwatch presenter Chris Packham
Best Environment Project; Call The Midwife star Laura Main
Best Health Project; MasterChef judge John Torode
Best Heritage Project; actor Larry Lamb
Best Sports Project; TV presenter and wheelchair basketball player Ade Adepitan
Best Voluntary/Charity Project; musician Tinchy Stryder

There will also be music performances from award-winning singer and songwriter, Pixie Lott and Ella Henderson who has just seen her debut single reach number 1.

This year will see the introduction of a Special Achievement Award, recognising how one individual has made an outstanding contribution to society with the help of Lottery funding.

John Barrowman, who will be presenting the show for the fourth year, said: “Every year I am moved by the exceptional work that the finalists of the National Lottery Awards carry out. They typify everything that is right with society – the volunteering, community spirit and selflessness.

“National Lottery players should be proud that the £33 million they raise for charities every single week goes to projects like these.”
