This Pride Month, discover how National Lottery funding powers celebrations of LGBTQ+ pride across the UK.
Every June, communities across the UK come together to celebrate Pride and honour LGBTQ+ history and culture, while continuing to raise awareness of issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community.
Thanks to our players, Pride events both big and small receive vital National Lottery funding towards creating inclusive spaces where the LGBTQ+ community feels seen and supported.
This Pride Month, we’re highlighting the National Lottery-funded organisations helping to make it all happen.
Margate Pride
Margate Pride is grassroots, community-led celebration of LGBTQIA+ life, creativity and activism.
With National Lottery support, it hosts a wide range of free, inclusive events, from parades and art trails to social gatherings, to bring the community together.
Oldham Pride
Oldham Pride is a non-profit, community-run LGBTQ+ events group that celebrated its 20th anniversary last year with a huge party and parade.
With National Lottery support, Oldham Pride has grown into a free, family-friendly event where local schools, services and faith groups unite in solidarity. The celebration features a vibrant parade, community stalls, drag performances and live music.
Exeter Pride
Celebrating Exeter’s vibrant and diverse LGBTQ+ community for over 15 years, Exeter Pride stands as one of the South West’s largest free Pride events.
National Lottery funding has played an important role in keeping the flagship campaign thriving, as well as supporting workshops, a marketplace, youth forums and partnerships all year round.
Exeter Pride founder Alan Quick told us in May: “I’m so grateful for the National Lottery funding. The kindness and care that The National Lottery has given us has impressed everyone here.”
Belfast Pride
Belfast Pride is the biggest event of the year for LGBTQIA+ people in Belfast, packing over 150 events into ten days.
With National Lottery support, it delivers a full week of advocacy-infused performances, rights panels, artist showcases and a Pride Village promoting visibility, equality and acceptance.
Perthshire Pride
Perthshire Pride brings vibrant celebrations of LGBTQ+ identity to the heart of rural Scotland. The event champions inclusion and visibility in places where access to LGBTQ+ spaces can be limited.
With support from National Lottery players, the event has expanded its reach, supporting parades, performances, workshops and community events. This funding helps create safe spaces where LGBTQ+ people and allies can come together in celebration.
