From day one, the award-winning This Girl Can campaign, thanks to funding from National Lottery players, has been shaking up the way women get active and changing the rules of the game.

This Girl Can believes that there’s no right way to get active - if it gets your heart rate up, it counts. And we want more women to find what’s right for them.
The campaign celebrates active women who are doing their thing no matter how they look, how well they do it, or how sweaty they get. We want to challenge the conventional idea of what exercise looks like and reach out to women of all backgrounds and ethnicities who feel left behind by traditional exercise.
In doing so, we’re aiming to inspire more women and girls to wiggle, jiggle, move and prove that judgement, time, money and energy are barriers that can be overcome.
We Like the Way You Move
This Girl Can’s latest campaign, We Like the Way You Move is their major new advertising campaign which aims to redefine what women getting active looks like.
The research underpinning our new National Lottery-funded campaign is clear: only one in 10 women from lower-income backgrounds feel they completely belong in the world of sport and physical activity, and for women from underrepresented groups - Black women, South Asian Muslim women, pregnant women, mothers with children under one year old and 55-74-year-old women 0 the feelings of exclusion are even greater.
Our new study reveals how far the world of sport and physical activity still has to go in representing all women, with Black women, South Asian women, women with disabilities, older women and pregnant women almost entirely erased from the picture of sport and physical activity presented online.
