Local people urged to join Scarlett Moffatt for record breaking Cream Tea party to celebrate The National Lottery's 25th Birthday

TV personality Scarlett Moffatt will play host to a giant Cream Tea Party in a bid to set a new Guinness World Record.

The event is part of the celebrations for The National Lottery’s 25th birthday and will take place at midday on Wednesday 23 October at the iconic Sage Gateshead building on the banks of the river Tyne.

Scarlett will be back on her home turf in the North East, giving a warm welcome to diners from across the region and the UK, including Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

To beat the record for the biggest ever cream tea party – which currently stands at 978 participants - everyone taking part must drink a cup of tea with milk and eat at least one wheat scone with clotted cream and jam.

The event is free, but to allow The National Lottery to provide enough scones and tea - and to set a new world record - all guests must register via sagegateshead.com/worldrecord.
