With so many locations to choose from, TV presenter Fred Sirieix has selected his ten favourites to help you pick out a potential adventure this National Lottery Open Week.
1. National Trust Sissinghurst Castle and Gardens, Kent
Sissinghurst oozes love. Its most famous owner was Vita Sackville-West, who called it ‘Sleeping Beauty’s castle’ and set about taking it from an overgrown ruin to the spectacular gardens it is today.
My fiancé recently surprised me with a visit there – it is my favourite National Trust site. With Vita, her husband Harold, Virginia Woolf and other cultural icons, it is home to some of the most thrilling love stories and the most romantic gardens in the country. It’s a place that celebrates all that is beautiful, simple and colourful – and is the backdrop of choice for many who choose to pop the big question.
It has charm any time of year – during the National Lottery Open Week I would head for the daffodils in the orchard and take a stroll down the Lime Walk.

2. Hampton Court Palace, London
Ghosts, six wives, feasts, mazes, record-breaking vine, absolute splendour… what is not to love?!
3. Eden Project, Cornwall
A total wonder with plants from all corners of the world where you can even walk through the world’s largest indoor rainforest and have a glass of wine in the Mediterranean Biome.

4. National Trust Allan Bank and Grasmere, Lake District
A real jewel in the stunning Lakes’ crown where you can relax or explore all while having amazing views. The perfect spot for a date!
5. National Trust for Scotland Castle Fraser, Scotland
One of the most impressive tower houses in Scotland, dating back as early as the 1450s with incredible views from the top of the round tower.
6. RSPB Ynys-hir Nature Reserve, Wales
One of the best places to reset your mind in the outdoors. Southern Snowdonia mountains to the north and the Cambrian mountains to the south, the location and views are just stunning!

7. Chamber Choir Ireland, Northern Ireland
I’ve not been to the venue but love Rachmaninov and this offer sounds too good to miss!

8. World Rugby Museum, Twickenham, London
As a native Frenchman, it’s almost impossible not to love Rugby during the Six Nations so I couldn’t’ resist including this offer at Twickenham!

I must include this as a UNESCO World Heritage Site right on my doorstep. And you can cycle taking the Crab and Winkle way all the way to the Whitstable beach!

A beautiful National Trust for Scotland site right by Montrose Basin and a stone’s throw away from the Scottish coastline where you can look as far as the eye can reach.
