In the final episode of our podcast Amazing Starts Here, Amber meets with Phillipa, Malcom and Sue from the National Memorial Arboretum to discover one of the biggest collection of memorials in the UK, the important part nature plays in remembrance and much more.

The National Memorial Arboretum is a National Lottery funded charity that holds almost 400 memorials in 150 acres of forest in Staffordshire. The charity combines nature with remembrance to celebrate the lives of those lost. The Arboretum pays tribute to those in the Armed Forces, emergency services, communities that have passed by bringing their stories to light. It adds new memorials every year and helps people to deal with grief and loss of their own loved ones.

During this episode Phillipa tells us about their new memorial woodland project. A living memorial to celebrate key workers of the Covid-19 pandemic who lost their lives.

Malcom and Sue, volunteers at the Arboretum, tell us about their personal connection to the site and how they are helping people explore the unique stories behind the monuments and commemorative trees.

Thanks to National Lottery players, more than £30 million goes to good causes across the UK every week, which in turn helps charities like the National Memorial Arboretum continue to carry out incredible work in their communities.
