Taff-Ely food bank

The organisation provides emergency food and practical support for individuals and families facing financial hardship, while working alongside local partners to help people access advice, guidance and longer-term support. Part of the Trussell network, Taff-Ely Foodbank believes that nobody should have to face hunger. Alongside distributing nutritionally balanced food parcels, the charity works with referral agencies, churches, businesses, volunteers and community organisations to build resilience and help address the root causes of poverty. 

The foodbank is more than a place to receive emergency supplies. Through initiatives such as Advice and Information Days, local residents can connect with specialist organisations offering support with money management, welfare benefits, debt advice and other essential services. These events are designed to help people access support before they reach crisis point. 

In November 2025, Taff-Ely Foodbank received funding from The National Lottery Community Fund of £134,745, announced during a surprise visit by television presenter and National Lottery Ambassador AJ Odudu. The funding will help the organisation continue providing emergency food supplies and expand its support through a baby provision service for local families.

Alongside its foodbank services, the organisation operates the Taff-Ely Baby Bank, providing essential items including nappies, toiletries and infant formula to families who need extra support. This service helps reduce pressure on parents and carers during challenging times while ensuring babies have access to essential items. 

Thanks to the dedication of staff, volunteers, partner organisations and National Lottery players, Taff-Ely Foodbank continues to make a meaningful difference to people experiencing hardship across the community while working towards a future where food banks are no longer needed.
