Because of You
Since 1997, The National Lottery has invested more than £146 million in UK Athletics, helping to fund the coaches, sports science, facilities and development pathways that enable athletes to reach their full potential.
Thanks to National Lottery players, this investment supports athletes from their first local club right through to representing Great Britain and Northern Ireland on the international stage.
The National Lottery doesn't just support the success of the British team. More than £3 million of National Lottery funding has also helped Birmingham host the European Athletics Championships, giving athletes the opportunity to compete on home soil.
The National Lottery wishes Team GB and NI the very best of luck as they go for gold.
Every week, our players raise more than £33 million for good causes across the UK, helping to make events like the European Athletics Championships possible and enabling athletes to train, compete and succeed at the highest level.
