TEAM GB CURLERS HAVE A BRUSH WITH LIFE WITHOUT NATIONAL LOTTERY FUNDING

18th January 2014

Sunday, January 19, 2014: A light-hearted image of two Team GB curlers, Eve Muirhead and Vicki Adams, has been released as part of The National Lottery’s new ‘Just Imagine’ campaign. The picture shows the two GB talents taking to the ice but having to use household brooms instead of curling brushes.

The tongue-in-cheek image celebrates Day 19 of The National Lottery’s ‘Just Imagine’, a nationwide campaign to raise awareness of the massive impact that £31 billion in project funding has had across the UK since the first National Lottery draw 20 years ago this year.

National Lottery funding for sport in the UK totals over £7 billion. 1,300 elite athletes currently benefit from Lottery funding through UK Sport, with sports clubs and facilities up and down the UK having been improved with Lottery funding. Curling has received more than £8 million in total.

GB’s Curling squads will soon be competing for glory at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games run from 7-23 Feb, with the Winter Paralympic Games competed between 7-16 March.

For anyone wanting to find out more about funded projects in their area, the National Lottery has launched a ‘Good Cause Finder’. To see projects in your area, or to find out more about Just Imagine January, visit www.lotterygoodcauses.org.uk
